New Fishing Date App Pairs Lovers of the Water

fishing dates

Typically when a bloke brings up watersports or the size of his rod on a first date, it’s a red flag. However, this is definitely not the case with Find Fishing Dates, a new app that aims to help people meet fishing lovers for dating. While there are plenty of fish in the sea, this app can help you make sure you are casting in the right pond if you want to find a lover of the outdoors. Let’s take a look at the app.

Find Fishing Dates about More Than Fishing

For many people, the name of the app may have been enough to ponder stopping reading. However, even if you aren’t into fishing, you may actually enjoy this app. Despite the name in the title, the app notes that they are open to lovers of the water in general. They cater to people who enjoy surfing, paddleboarding, swimming, boating, and scuba diving as well.

In fact, there may be a surprising demand for this here in the UK where 900,000 fishing licenses are sold to anglers annually. While hooking up may have a bit of a different meaning on this app, it ultimately serves as a social community. The app allows people to meet others interested in similar hobbies with the goal of finding someone to date, a spouse, or just friends to hang out on the water with.

Find Fishing Dates was originally created with the US market in mind with an emphasis on people who live in rural areas. While most of the app’s users are certainly across the pond, it seems to have generated a bit of a cult following over here as well.

Find Fishing Dates Review

Find Fishing Dates will remind you of an old-school dating app. There is no swiping here; rather, you navigate profiles to get to know a person and decide whether or not to contact them. The site functions as both a website and an app and allows users to create a free profile without the need for a credit card.

Additionally, Find Fishing Dates allows users to have a sixty-day free trial, which is by far the longest free trial I have encountered among dating sites. My initial perception that this would be a narrowly tailored app was quickly proven wrong. The app allows users to select from multiple languages and is inclusive of the LGBTQ community.

The app employs an algorithm that suggests people to you based on the information you put into your profile. This is a great way for finding people with similar water-based interests. For example, I am more interested in paddleboarding and scuba diving. I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the people recommended to me shared at least one of those hobbies.

The one caveat for other UK users will be that there are definitely far fewer fish in this sea. The app has not yet truly taken off here; however, there are quite a few users, and it seems that the men definitely outnumber the women, which means hooking our perfect match may be a bit easier than other apps.

A Reminder about Safe Dating Practices

It can certainly be exciting to meet someone who shares your passion for a specific hobby and is a great way to instantly boost good conversation. However, you definitely want to still make sure to practice safe dating precautions just as you would on any other app.

Since Find Fishing Dates caters to those who love the outdoors, it is probably a lot more common to get invited on dates to rural locations. While most people are likely just looking to enjoy the outdoors, it is important to get to know and vet someone first. I strongly recommend always meeting in a very public place for the first few dates.

Additionally, be sure that you always let someone know of your plans including where you are going and when you plan to return. This is particularly important for dates that delve a bit into nature and areas where there are potentially few people and irregular cell phone signals such as a fishing date.

Don’t Wait … Cast Your Line

If you are wanting a fishing date instead of the standard boring conversation over fish and chips, head to Find Fishing Dates. Whether you are a surfer, scuba diver, or angler, there is something for everyone in this social community. Maybe you’ll find the perfect match to help bait your hook!
